Newlife provides essential equipment such as specialist beds, wheelchairs, communication aids, specialist seating, and sensory/therapy equipment to disabled and terminally ill children across the UK. 

Carers Trust currently has a grant fund open for individual adult carers, aged 16+.

Carers can apply for grants of up to £300 for items or activities that will benefit them in their caring role 

Merlin’s Magic Wand is a worldwide charity for children and we arrange magical days out at Merlin Entertainments attractions, such as LEGOLAND Resorts®, SEA LIFE Centres and Madame Tussauds. 

Autism Aware UK operates to increase awareness of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and to support families through online support.

It also purchases specialist equipment for schools and groups to help educate and support people with Autism.

The charity has previously funded purpose built playgrounds for a school.

Schools, groups and organisation requiring assistance with funding equipment that benefits people with ASD should contact the charity direct. 

Mobility Trust provides powered wheelchairs and scooters for UK residents who have severe disabilities and who cannot obtain such equipment through other means. We aim to reach and help people who, quite simply, have nowhere else to turn. We are the only UK charity that provides such broad support, regardless of age or cause of disabilities. 

Tree of Hope children’s charity helps children and young people with a disability or illness by supporting their families to raise the funds that they need to pay for specialist care that is not freely available through the UK healthcare system. We are the crowdfunding children’s charity of choice for young people with healthcare needs, giving access to corporate donations, GiftAid and potential grants from Trusts and Foundations. Most importantly we give reassurance for your donors that their money will be spent on your child and their healthcare needs. 

Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Last year, we provided 88,119 grants or services worth over £33 million to families across the UK. 

Roxy’s Magic is a charity supporting disabled children. They fund equipment and activities which can enhance a disabled child’s life. 

We are the UK’s leading pet wellbeing charity, supporting pets and their owners throughout the country. At PDSA we believe that every pet deserves to live a happy and healthy life and we strive to improve pets’ lives – through prevention, education and treatment.

PDSA has been saving pets and changing lives for 100 years, since 17 November 1917. In that time the charity has helped more than 20 million pets, providing 100 million treatments. It’s all down to our fantastic team: our devoted vets, nurses and their support staff, our charity shop teams, fundraisers and volunteers. 

To date Caudwell Children has provided services worth over £40million to over 35,000 children with over 650 different medical conditions. The charity is committed to changing the lives of disabled children by providing specialist direct family support, equipment, treatment and therapy as well as its annual ‘Destination Dreams’ holiday and their Enable Sport service.

The 3H Foundation, formerly known as 3H Fund (Helping Hands for Holidays), has been operating for nearly 50 years supporting those with disabilities and carers to have holidays and short respite breaks. Working with like-minded partner organisations we provide opportunities for those with disabilities to have a holiday away independently from their day-to-day carers through our group holiday programme. We help families with a disabled family member to have a holiday in the UK by awarding a modest grant. Carers are able to apply for a carer grant enabling them to have a period of respite away without their cared for. As getting away for a few hours is important for carers we also provide short respite breaks where adult carers are able to relax including afternoon teas, pamper hampers or spa days. Our TeensPLUS programme enables young people with disabilities and young carers aged 13 – 25 to take part in home-based activity challenges, receive a young carer hamper or a day out with a partner organisation

Trefoil exists to support the development of children and young people with additional needs, to enable them to maximise their capabilities and achieve as much independence as possible.

Trefoil offers Personal Development Grants to young people under the age of 25 years with special needs which may be psycho/social or of a physical nature which impacts upon their development. Applications are considered four times per year

Marvellous Family Grants are for families facing financial hardship while caring for a child with a serious illness. They provide support to help families cope, from funding specialist equipment and creative therapies to hospital travel expenses. 

Buttle UK gives grants to children and young people growing up without the basics we take for granted - be that something for their home, help with school, paying for study or training, or helping them to access the skills and equipment necessary to get into work. 

Every year Buttle UK delivers around 12,000 emergency essentials―children's beds, cookers, fridges, washing machines―to young people and families who, without our support, would otherwise have to go without. Families who, through no fault of their own, are in situations where they cannot afford to pay for these items themselves even with the support of statutory funding. Common reasons why we help include disability, domestic violence, homelessness, ill mental health and estrangement. 

We believe all children deserve the best quality of life. By providing grants for specialised equipment (from adapted trikes to wheelchairs to adapted car seats and tough furniture) we are proud to change the lives of children and young people with disabilities up to 25 years old, giving them increased independence.

Many of the people we help are from low income households and are unable to buy specialist equipment or make adaptations to improve independence at home or to obtain what they need from public funding.

The financial support we give through our grant making helps towards the purchase of specialist mobility and disability equipment, communication and daily living aids and home adaptations. This provides immediate and practical help improving the independence, safety, comfort and quality of life of some of the most vulnerable members of our society. 

The Boparan Charitable Trust was set up to aid children and young people across the nation who are disadvantaged either by poverty, disability or terminal illness.

As a charity we take great pride in taking the time to listen, understand and help families who are often forgotten about or neglected by the health and social systems. We work at a grass roots level and provide financial grants for key items to assist the children, and in turn their families.

The Adamson Trust is a long established Perthshire charity based in Crieff.

We are able to give financial help with the cost of holidays or respite breaks for disabled children aged between 3 and 17 with physical, mental or emotional impairements. We can only give help for this purpose.

Who Can Apply?

Individual families can apply and, in addition, we accept applications on behalf of groups of children, organisations and other registered charities.

Is there a piece of equipment, communication aid or a particular service that you think will benefit your child and which your local authority will not fund?

Are you having difficulties paying for it?

Are you on means tested benefits?

Does it cost less than £1000?

Can you find a professional to back up your claim?

If your answer to all these questions is yes, then we may be able to help.

Please note that we do not fund holidays, refurbishment costs and household appliances, like washing machines. We do NOT part-fund applications for equipment/services amounting to more than £1000. 

Day Trips & Visiting Theatre

You can apply to us for a day trip to a wide variety of destinations, for example the seaside, a theme park or the theatre. You may also apply for a theatre performance or experience to visit your premises.

Family Respite Breaks

 Our family breaks can be to the seaside or the countryside, usually in the UK.

 You can apply to us for a family break if you have a child or children with special educational needs, who have been victims of abuse or who have a life-limiting condition, and are aged 3-17

Group Activity Holidays

 You can apply to us for a group activity holiday to a wide variety of destinations such as outdoor activity centres, holiday camps and sailing breaks.

Who qualifies?

Grants are available to individuals as well as organisations.

What we fund?

We aim to provide whatever is needed:

It may be medical, such as monitoring equipment.

It may be basic care like feeding tubes or hoists.

It may be sensory play or mobility equipment for a nursery or playgroup.

Is there a limit?

In principle, no. Typically, a grant can be anywhere between £100 and £6,000. We do our best to handle each application sympathetically and we help whenever we can.

The Elifar Foundation welcomes applications by, or on behalf of, individual children or young adults with any form of physical or learning disability.

Each application is assessed on an individual basis by the trustees and can be made using the Elifar Grant Application Form. 

The Trust exists to help people continue to experience the joy of gardening, despite disability.    We do this by awarding small financial grants to help applicants to continue to garden actively – or, as our founder put it back in 1968 ‘ to get the soil under the fingernails’.    Our most common request is for raised beds and planting tables: we often pay for accessibility ramps, handrails for outside steps, adapted tools, polytunnels and much more.  Sometimes we simply pay for the seeds or bulbs to get the garden going again.  We are all about actively gardening.

Who we help and what we pay for

We help individuals, and we love to help groups, because that makes our money go further. People with all kinds of physical or mental abilities, in all parts of the UK, have been awarded grants from the Trust.

We rarely (almost never!) pay for decking, and we never pay for clearing, cutting down trees, general maintenance or fencing.
