Skate Parks

Skating can be a real adrenaline rush and can give an opportunity to burn off excess  energy in an environment filled with like minded people :-)

4 Motion - Darlington

4Motion was formed as a community group in June 2012 by some parents whose children participated in the bike coaching sessions at the West Park Bike Track, Darlington. We wanted to get the sessions at West Park up and running again.  We also had opportunity to explore the idea of an indoor Skatepark.  Darlington Gymnastics were looking for a new home and through links we came together to see if we could find a building that could accommodate us both.  With this opportunity we decided we needed to form a limited guarantee company and to become a registered charity, ‘4Motion Darlington’.  We got company registration in April 2013 and are now a registered charity.

R-Kade has been established since July 1999 and has recently undergone a huge refurbishment. The park has now been built to a pro standard by Cambridgeshire based Four One Four Skateparks Ltd who carried out the design and build of the park. The build took three months to complete and the park is now fully open. The park features a large bowl, street section, BMX section with jump boxes and much more. For our younger (under 10 year olds) riders and skaters there is the Jungle section with smaller ramps and jumps so they can build their confidence slowly then progress into the main park

The Zoo is the only indoor Skatepark in York, offering children and young people the opportunity to skate at a safe, community-focused and professionally run skatepark. There is a strong and growing community of people in York that love participating in skate sports, and we want The Zoo to be the destination for all of them.

We recently invested significant amounts of money to refurbish and modernise the Skatepark. We have big plans to make the skatepark accessible to a wider range of users, including disabled users, and to provide an alternative education offer for young people not in education, employment and training across the City.
