The following destinations are rail themed days out for any budding rail enthusiast!

Today the North York Moors Historical Railway Trust is a not-for profit charitable organisation run as part of the local community. Day to day operation is carried out by volunteers with railway operations and business experience. A core team of paid staff together with approximately 100 full time staff and 50 seasonal staff, plan and operate the train service and work steadily to improve the quality of the infrastructure, the railway vehicles and experience to our visitors travelling on the railway.
Every visitor that travels on the railway helps preserve one of the world's greatest railway experiences.
The railway operates with the support and commitment of over 550 volunteers.
The NYMR cares for, operates and develops the historic railway we own between Pickering and Grosmont.
Its trains also operate over the Network Rail line from Grosmont to Whitby.
It aims to provide a high quality, safe and authentic evocation of the steam age for the public.
The railway is owned and operated by a Charitable Trust, providing education for all ages.
The NYMR is a fully accredited museum.
We officially start running at 1 pm however some crews will start a little earlier if everything is fully ready. Signs are placed at both Cat Nab and Forest Halt stations which state "Trains Running Today". If these signs are not out then you can assume that the days programme has been delayed or cancelled. This is mainly due to poor track conditions during or after inclement weather which makes operating the railway difficult.
Fares are payable either at our Ticket Office at Cat Nab station which is located next to the seafront car park or alternatively to the Conductor if you board the train at Forest Halt in the woods. We do not accept card payments.
The length of the track is about 1km so allow around 15 - 20 minutes for the return journey. Trains are operated on an "as and when" basis and not to a strict timetable so some flexibility is required by passengers especially when our steam loco is in use.
Two wheelchairs can fit in our modified carriages but they can also be left securely at the Ticket Office if there is no room on board the train. If you need any help then please just ask a member of the Train Crew who are there to help you enjoy your journey.

BOLTON ABBEY STATION
Nestling in one of the most beautiful parts of Yorkshire, Bolton Abbey Station has been lovingly re-created by our volunteers in the original Midland Railway style of the 1800’s. Platform 1 and the main station building were re-opened in 1998, and since then we have added an original Midland Railway signal box (in the location of the original) at the east end of platform 1. From platform 1, you can see the next phase of our development with platform 2 and 3 being re-instated. Our plans include additional station buildings and a footbridge to connect the platforms.
ACCESSIBILITY
Car parking spaces are reserved close to both station buildings for ease of access. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets at both Embsay and Bolton Abbey stations.
On the normal service trains there is usually a specially converted Wheelchair Saloon, which can be easily accessed via a ramp – the Station Staff or the Guard will be happy to assist.
Due to their historic construction, the Stately Trains carriages do not have specific accommodation for wheelchairs. However, our Guards and Station staff will do their utmost to assist passengers with a disability to board.

The North Bay Railway, Scarborough is one of the towns top tourist attractions. The locomotives, scenery and history of the railway all add up to make it a fantastic day out. North Bay Railway is 100% dog friendly and dogs are welcome to travel on the train free of charge but we do ask you keep your dog on a short lead.
With the smallest pub in Yorkshire waiting to serve you the finest craft ales and refreshments who could ask for more. Now open everyday 10:30am – 5:30pm.

The Wensleydale Railway is a tourist and heritage line starting at the County town of Northallerton to Redmire on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, passing through the Georgian market town of Bedale and the Dales market town of Leyburn, with constantly changing scenery, from the arable lands of the Vale of Mowbray in the east to hills of the Yorkshire Dales in the west.
The line is a predominantly heritage diesel line, with steam services operating over selected weekends, special events and the summer months. For further information please see the timetable page for days on which the steam service runs.
